THE SHORT HAPPY LIFE

 

This french-fold bound book was produced as one of my final bachelor projects.

 

I've experimented with how I can involve the readers more in the understanding and interpretation of the book through inserting extra fold-in margins with quotes and additional information about the main themes of the book, and pictures inside some of the folded pages.

 

Throughout the book I've also explored with how I can use typography, in a subtle way, to highlight certain phrases and sentences that points to some of the underlying symbolism in the book, which in turn will help the reader get a better understanding of the whole novel in general, and especially the dramatic ending.

 

 

The book has qualified for the second judgeing in the Young Talents 2010 competition initiated by Norwegian Design Council. The results will be annonced in March 2010.
